Production Engineering Group, Department of Aerospace Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, Nagoya University

I study heat and tool wear in metal cutting through experiments and numerical calculation.

About

I investigate how hot a cutting tool becomes during machining and how it wears, using both experiments and a cutting-temperature model. My goal is to find conditions that balance tool life and machining efficiency from the perspective of temperature.

I will enter the doctoral program at the Graduate School of Engineering, Nagoya University, in April 2027.

Research

What I work on
In metal cutting, tools gradually wear from heat and friction and have to be replaced.
I study, through experiments and numerical calculation, where and how hot a tool becomes during cutting.
Why it matters
Fewer tool changes make production easier to automate and reduce the waste of tool material.
Methods
Temperature measurement by experiments, and temperature prediction by mathematical models.
My role
Developing the measurement method, and building and validating the temperature-prediction model.

Details will be published after the papers appear.
